Like any form of massage, there are a few things a patient can do prior to their treatment that can improve upon the experience and their general well being. The Ashiatsu Massage technique not only loosens up muscles, but it can release toxins that are stored between muscles and joints during a massage.
Prepare for Your Ashiatsu Massage
Therefore, it is important to drink even more than the daily recommended amount in the hours and days before your session. Although it is important to be well hydrated all the time, try to drink 12 glasses of water each of the 3 days leading up to your treatment as well as the 3 days following your Ashiatsu massage. Once the toxins are released in your body, you will want to flush out any free radicals floating around. Other than this, just try to arrive relaxed and ready to be pampered.
Drinking Water is Important
Water is very important after a Ashiatsu massage. The standard recommendation that a person should drink 8 to 10 glasses of water per day is ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT for the 48 hours following a massage because toxins and other waste byproducts typically released during the massage process will either be flushed from the body (by drinking the recommended amount of water) or they will be redistributed within the body.
Immediately after the Ashiatsu massage you should feel pretty good, however, discomfort and soreness are typical after a deep tissue massage, especially the morning after (much like the first time you start a new exercise routine). If you do experience soreness, it should disappear by the third day. Always contact your therapist if you have any concerns. Drinking water is the single most effective means of reducing after massage discomfort.
Sleep is often improved, as is concentration, ease of mobility, and one’s sense of general well being.
Medication adjustments are not an immediate result, but over time reduced stress and improved circulation may result in a DR. CONTROLLED medication modification.
